BMA to turn Mahakan Fort into mini park

BMA to turn Mahakan Fort into mini park

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will turn Mahakan Fort into a mini park and the improvement to its landscape will be done within a month, a deputy BMA governor said on Monday.

BMA deputy governor Jakkapan Phiewngam led officials to inspect the fort on Monday before the last residential homes belonging to the Mahakan community were removed.
Jakkapan said the BMA’s Public Works Department needed about three days to remove the remaining houses.
He said the the BMA’s Environment Department would then spend about 15 days to a month on improving the landscape by planting a grass lawn and trees along Ong Ang canal for people to relax.
He said the landscape improvement required more money but it would be carried out on the existing budget.
