Army to be part of national strategy committee
Army chiefs would have seats on a newly proposed committee on national strategy because they are obliged to help take care of the country’s security, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Wednesday.
The national strategy bill, which is developed under the new charter, will be tabled before the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) tomorrow.
Under the charter, the bill and the national reforms bill, must be enacted and promulgated within four months after the charter has been promulgated. The charter received royal endorsement on April 6.
New committees, including national strategy, were proposed under the bill.
Meanwhile, the government’s supreme committee on reform, reconciliation and national strategy would also convene on Friday to give a progress update.
Wissanu said it would take some new proposals made by the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) into consideration, including fast-tracking some legal enactment procedures.
They included a new city planning bill, a public participation bill, and a bill concerning ethical standards and codes of conduct for government officials.
