PM visits Bahrain to sign bilateral agreements

Four bilateral agreements on agriculture, tax, university cooperation and education are expected to be signed by Thailand and Bahrain during an official three-day visit by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha to the country starting Monday.

In a joint statement approved by the Cabinet last week, the two countries also pledge to strengthen ties in political and economic affairs, human security, public health and aviation.
Bilateral talks will be held on Tuesday, when Prayut is scheduled to meet Bahraini PM Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who had invited Prayut to visit the country.
Prayut will also pay a courtesy call to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the same day.
The Thai delegation also includes Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya and Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn.
The first Middle East country to be visited by Prayut, Bahrain celebrates the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Thailand this year.
The average annual value of trade between Thailand and Bahrain during the past five years was Bt15.48 billion.
