Arrest warrant will be issued on Friday, says Chakthip

Arrest warrant will be issued on Friday, says Chakthip

The arrest warrant for Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, the heir to the Red Bull fortune who is accused of the hit-and-run death of a police officer in 2012, would be out on Friday, national police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda said.

Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Division 5 chief Pol Maj Gen Mongkol Arunno and Thong Lor Police station officers were proceeding on the arrest warrant application with the court, Chakthip said.
After that, police would use all possible channels to reach Vorayuth including contacting British authorities, as Vorayuth was reportedly staying in England, he said.
As Vorayuth’s status would be a fugitive following the issuance of the arrest warrant, there might be an extradition procedure involving the Thailand-United Kingdom Extradition Treaty, Chakthip said.
If Vorayuth moved to another country, police would still hunt for him and whenever Vorayuth returned to Thailand, he would be arrested, he said.
“Don’t worry. Thai police have been constantly trying to catch those with arrest warrants on them all along,” he added.
Chakthip’s comment was made following the public prosecutors’ request for police to bring Vorayuth to hear the indictment decision soon, after Vorayuth again failed to the prosecutors on Thursday.
