Licensing requirement removed from media bill
The media reform panel of the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) on Monday voted to remove the proposed licensing requirement for media professionals from its draft media regulation bill, its chairman has told NRSA meeting.
Amid concerns by media professionals as well as Human Rights Watch, the media committee chaired by ACM Kanit Suwannet tabled the draft bill for NRSA deliberation on Monday.
Kanit said his panel was aware of media concerns regarding media licensing.
He said the licence proposal would be replaced by media certificates issued by the operators of media organisations.
The NRSA is deliberating on the draft bill now.
