Srivara checks on progress of probe into underage prostitution ring

Deputy national police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul went to Mae Hong Son on Friday to check the progress of the police investigation into the underage prostitution ring.

Five policemen and one schoolteacher, who were accused of paying to have sex with minors, were slated to meet police in response to summonses on Friday. Four policemen showed up in the morning.
The fifth officer, a Pol Lt Colonel, did not appear as he claimed he was preoccupied with work. He is believed to have already fled and investigators are now applying for an arrest warrant.
Srivara checked the case report and met with some of the suspects. He also visited a police flat where the Pol Lt Colonel allegedly took a minor for sex.
The suspects who responded to summonses would be taken to Bangkok for further interrogation.
Also on Friday, a Master Sergeant under the Internal Security Operations Command, who was identified by victims as “Uncle Pan” went to the Mae Hong Son police office to report himself to Srivara.
He said he knew the girls but his involvement with them was for intelligence gathering purposes against the prostitution ring.
