Popular pub near Khao San Road raided
Interior Ministry officials and police raided a poplar pub near Khao San Road in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district early on Saturday for allowing underage customers to enter and drink.
The raid of the Z Club pub on Tanee Road at 2am was led by Ronnarong Tipsiri, director of the investigation and suppression unit of the Provincial Administration Department.
The authorities found 59 patrons to be younger than 20 years old and 25 of them younger than 18.
Also, they found 66 of customers tested positive for drugs and 25 of them were younger than 18.
Ronnarong said a lot of ketamine and crystal meth packs and smoking pipes were found discarded in the shop and in toilet rooms.
He said the raid was conducted following complaints by parents that their children younger than 20 have been visiting the pub.
He said the Z Club did not have a licence. The owner will be charged with running a pub beyond the 2am deadline, not having a licence to run the pub, and allowing people younger than 20 to enter and buy alcoholic drinks.
