Thai-Belgian Bridge fully open to traffic

The Thai-Belgian Friendship Bridge on Bangkok’s Rama IV Road on Thursday opened all traffic lanes for motorists after the bridge was closed for repairs and maintenance following a fire at the end of February.

Pathumwan district office director Morakot Sanitthawong and Pol Lt-Colonel Jessada Khumsat, deputy traffic police chief of Thung Mahamek Police Station, jointly presided over the full reopening of the bridge on Thursday morning.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration had closed the bridge for repairs after a homeless man allegedly set fire to garbage bins under the bridge on February 28 morning, causing damage to the structure.
The reopening was 22 days ahead of the initial schedule.
