Heavy rain causes flooding, traffic snarls in Bangkok

Heavy rain across Bangkok early Tuesday caused roads to be flooded, resulting in traffic snarls during rush hours on the second day of the new school year.

Traffic police and social networkers reported flooding a number of roads and sois, including Soi Sukhumvit 32, which was flooded entirely.
Soi Sukhumvit 22, where the Sai Nam Pheung School is situated, was also flooded at several parts.
Minor flooding was reported on Soi Lard Prao 80, causing traffic to slow down on the road.
Traffic gridlock was reported on Prachachuen Road along the Prapa Canal heading to the Pong Peng Intersection. Vehicles were moving at a crawl and the lines of vehicles stretched to the top of Soi Samamkkhi.
Water on Soi Ramkhamhaeng 21 came half way up the wheels of vehicles.
Traffic police advised motorists to avoid Soi Lard Prao 64 due to high water while the Meng Jai Intersection and the Pracharat Bamphen-Ratchadapisek Intersection were also flooded.
Traffic police said inbound Phaholyothin Road, from the Ratchayothin Intersection to the Lard Prao Intersection, had traffic gridlock.
