Jealous driver faces charges of reckless driving

Police have filed two initial charges against a woman who crashed her Toyota Fortuner into a Mercedes-Benz carrying her husband and his mistress in a crash that damaged three other cars in Pathum Thani’s Thanyaburi district, causing six injuries, on Saturday afternoon.

Athicha Thongnanchai, 38, who talked to police investigators on Monday evening, was informed of the two charges of reckless driving causing injury and property damage and driving without regard for others’ safety, Thanya Buri superintendent Pol Colonel Theerawat Khajornkiatpas told The Nation in a phone interview.
Police will interview two more people who were wounded in the crash, he said, adding that Athicha might face additional charges if the injured people submit medical certificates that indicate it could take more than 20 days for them to recover.
Athicha reportedly traced her husband using GPS, caught up with his white Mercedes-Benz at Sawai Pracharat Road and then crashed into his vehicle to stop him from getting way at around 4.30pm on the Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road in Tambon Bung Yitow.
The crash caused six injuries, affected three other cars and caused a severe four-kilometre-long traffic jam before the scene was cleared.
