Returning peace to the country our greatest achievement: NCPO
The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has achieved it goal of maintaining peace and lessening internal conflicts during the three years it has been in power, a junta spokesman said on Thursday.
NCPO spokesman Colonel Piyaphong Klinphan said the junta’s most outstanding achievement was in maintaining peace in the country.
He added that recent bombing incidents were attempts by people with ill intentions who want to make the public feel that the country is not peaceful.
The spokesman stressed that the NCPO’s reconciliation process has decreased political conflicts during its three years at the helm.
He added that the NCPO and the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha had been ably supported by the Armed Forces commanders and relevant state agencies.
Regarding the recent explosion outside the National Theatre, the spokesman said the NCPO did not want to speculate on the culprits behind the incident since the country’s peace must come first.
The spokesman highlighted ending of encroachments on more than 350,000 rai of national forests, social-related policies, improved traffic and suppression of illegal acts as some of the NCPO’s other achievements.
