Napapa will not face additional charges, ONCB says

Actress Napapa “Patt” Tantrakul will not face an additional charge under the Measures for Suppression of Narcotic Offenders Act that the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) tried to file against her, according to the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) chief Sirinya Sitdhichai.

Napapa will still face a previously-filed charge of conspiracy to launder money in relation to funds that her husband, Akarakit “Benz Racing” Worarojcharoendet, had transferred to her, Sirinya said on Tuesday.
Sirinya explained that because the ONCB viewed that Napapa did not join with her husband in the wrongdoing and the fact that Akarakit had wired the Bt1.9 million to Napapa on 10 occasions during the time of her pregnancy, left a reasonable doubt on whether she had the intention of taking assets to accommodate wrongdoing or help prevent a wrongdoer from getting caught.
As for the NSB's suggestion to seize her assets, the ONCB said that the actress had already submitted the money that Akarakit had wired to her to the authority. It was previously reported that Napapa could explain the origins of all her assets except for the Bt1.9 million.
The NSB on Monday submitted the case report against Akarakit to public prosecutors, who will decide whether to indict him for laundering money on behalf of alleged Lao drug kingpin Xaysana Keopimpa, plus additional counts under the Measures for Suppression of Narcotic Offenders Act.
Akarakit's Lamborghini sports car and big bikes were seized as it was suspected that they were bought by money from Natthapol Nakkham, a suspect connected to Xaysana’s network, who has already been arrested, and authorities were still waiting for his explanation on the origin of the assets, Sirinya said.
