No urgent plan to seek bail for ‘Benz Racing’
The lawyer for the now infamous former bike-racing champion Akarakit Worarojcharoendet, better known as “Benz Racing”, has no plan to quickly make another bid to bail out his client after the Criminal Court denied Akarawit’s bail plea on Monday.
“His morale is still good. He is not pressuring me to get him out,” Sittichoke Treenet, who provides legal counselling to Akarakit, said on Tuesday.
According to the lawyer, Akarakit has already come to terms with what could happen after the allegations against him arose. Akarakit has been charged with laundering the ill-gotten gains of Nattapon Nakkham, an alleged member of a drug trafficking network led by Xaysana Keopimpha.
Sittichoke said the morale of Akarakit and his actress wife, Napapa “Patt” Tantrakul, was still good.
Sittichoke said he was considering two options - either submitting a new bail request or a protest challenging the Criminal Court’s decision to reject Akarakit’s first bail plea. “Then, we may make our move next week,” Sittichoke said.
