PDRC ex-secretary hails PM for pushing reforms

The secretary of the former People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), Aknat Prompan, posted a message of thanks to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on his Facebook page on Wednesday for paving the way for major reforms in the country amid fierce friction.

Aknat said reforms had always been the highest goal for which the PDRC had once fought. He also thanked former PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban for his determination to carry out the task until the country got a new charter that firmly addressed the reforms sought by the PDRC.
He also thanked Democrat Part leader, Abhisit Vejjajiva for supporting the reforms and fighting against the Thaksin regime.
Aknat called for unity and support for Abhisit so that he could reform the party to truly belong to the people.
Many former PDRC members have recently returned to the party and met Abhisit amid speculation that they may challenge his leadership. The members were once Democrat MPs who had resigned to take to the streets under the banner of the PDRC. They expressed their desire to return to the party yesterday.
Under the new charter, those eligible to contest in an election must be a party member.
