Lucky escape from toilet cobra

Lucky escape from toilet cobra

A trip to the toilet almost turned deadly on Wednesday for the daughter of a Chiang Mai noodle-shop owner when she found a 1.5-metre-long cobra coiled and ready to strike behind the door.

The daughter, whose age was not known, slammed the door and municipal officials were summoned to remove the venomous snake.
The cobra that invaded the Ko Worn noodle shop in front of Wat Sri Boon Reung in Muang district was soon captured and released uninjured to the wild.
Noodle maker Renu Thananta told officials her daughter had just opened the toilet door and saw the snake on the floor, ready to strike.
It was determined that the reptile had entered via a drainage pipe, prompting municipal officials to warn residents to use mesh grills to seal off outdoor entryways to their plumbing.
