NHRC member denies defending Khon Kaen murder suspect
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Angkhana Neelapaijit lodged a complaint with police on Wednesday over a comment published on the Internet incorrectly attributed to her.
The comment, which reads “Human-rights defender says ‘Preaw’ should be forgiven”, refers to Priyanuch “Preaw” Nonwangchai, who is facing charges of killing and dismembering a young woman in Khon Kaen with the help of several accomplices.
“I never made that comment. But someone has spread a post with my photo and the message over the Internet, which has exposed me to hate speech,” Angkhana said.
She said various other statements published on the Internet also had incorrect attributions.
Her complaint was lodged with the Technology Crime Suppression Division.
