BMA campaign focuses on rubbish in canals to prevent flooding

BMA campaign focuses on rubbish in canals to prevent flooding

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is calling on people living along the Prawetburirom Canal to not throw garbage into the waterway.

The campaign highlights the fact that improperly-dumped garbage hinders water drainage in the capital.
“The more you throw into waterways, the bigger the floods” is the key message of the campaign.
Bangkok Deputy Governor Thaweesak Lertprapan promoted the campaign alongside several officials in a boat ride on Sunday.
People are advised to leave rubbish in front of their doors, including big items such as damaged cabinets, mattresses and sofas.
“The Prawet District Office will dispatch boats to collect it,” Thaweesak said.
