Princess offers 30 tonnes of rice for Royal Cremation ceremonies

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has graciously granted 30 tonnes of rice to the government for use during the Royal Cremation ceremonies of late King Rama IX.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday chaired a ceremony at Government House to accept the rice from the Princess.
The rice was previously collected by Community Rice Centres nationwide and was presented to the Princess when she presided over an annual Rice and Farmers Day event early this month.
Prayut later assigned the Office of the Permanent Secretary at the PM’s Office to distribute the royally granted rice as well as another 140 tonnes received from donations earlier to food tents, the Royal Pages Division, volunteer groups and sandalwood flower-laying booths, both in Bangkok and the provinces, for use in the preparation of meals for public members participating in the Royal Cremation ceremonies.
