Facebook post prompts rescue of dog from BTS tracks in late night drama

A dog that fell onto the tracks of the BTS skytrain at Ploenchit station was rescued late Wednesday night.

A team from the Poh Tek Teung Foundation, a charity that provides care for the sick, managed to capture the dog half an hour after midnight after the BTS operator cut power to the tracks.
The team took action after a Facebook post by “Khoonkrai Peera” showed a video clip taken at 10.30pm of the dog on the tracks at the Ploenchit station, raising concerns among Facebook users. The Facebook user said the dog appeared to panic and ran in the direction of Chid Lom station.

A member of the rescue team, Surakit Plengsangua, wrote on Facebook that his team had rushed to the station and also asked Jor Sor 100, Sor Jor Ror and Ruamduay Chuaykan radio stations to help to coordinate with the BTS to allow the team to conduct the rescue.
Surakit said his team first went to Chid Lom station but the team was informed by security officers that the dog had run back to Ploenchit.
When the team arrived at the Ploenchit station, they could not descend to the tracks immediately because the electric train was still in service and there were still many passengers.
The team waited for the service to close and staff at Ploenchit station cut power to the tracks at 12.30am on Thursday, allowing the team to walk on the tracks to search for the dog.
He said the team quickly found the dog hiding at a concrete edge of the track and a rescuer caught it with a net and lifted it to safety.
Surakit added that the dog would have a check up at an animal hospital and then be put up for adoption.
