CPF has not yet complied with police investigation of fatal accident

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) has not yet submitted documents required by police for the ongoing investigation into five deaths at one of its poultry plants in Bangkok.

Four of the plant’s employees and a university student died in the plant’s wastewater treatment pond last Friday.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the tragedy.
CPF stated that its employees died while trying to save the female student who fell into the pond.
“We have instructed the firm to quickly submit documents on the job descriptions and organisational structure but the firm has been unable to say when it will be able to do so,” Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt-General Sanit Mahathavorn said on Thursday.
However, the Industrial Works Department had provided useful information for the investigation, he said.
Sanit added that police would also seek information from the Labour Protection and Welfare Department for details about labour laws and measures that the firm was required to take to protect its employees.
