Bike lane cuts into Phayao vendors’ tourism revenue
Food and souvenir vendors have objected to a cycling lane being installed around Kwan Phayao Lake in Phayao because it halves the parking space for prospective customers’ cars.
The vendors on Tuesday called on Mueang Phayao Municipality to cancel the project, even though the paving of the bike lane is completed.
The vendors said the bike lane has also worsened traffic congestion in the area.
Mayor Chulasini Prompao commented only that the bike lane was designed by the Phayao Public Works and Planning Office and built with municipal funding.
