Laundry’s pickup seriously injures Chinese tourist
A laundry shop’s pickup truck lost control and crashed into a Chinese tourist in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district early Sunday morning.
The tourist, later identified as Bin Xiao, 40, was pinned to a wall by the truck and sustained a serious injury that nearly amputated his left leg.
Following the crash at 2am, police rushed to the scene in Soi Chalerm Phrakiat 5 in Pattaya City to find the truck, a partially collapsed wall and the injured tourist. Rescue workers provided Bin with first aid and rushed him to hospital.
Witnesses told police that the apparently speeding truck lost control and spun out on the road, almost hitting residents standing in front of their homes, but the driver turned the wheel sharply towards the wall and hit the tourist instead.
The truck driver, Athichat Phoson, 22, who owns the laundry, was apparently intoxicated and submitted to an alcohol blood test.
