Naresuan University students win award for smart bike lock

Three Naresuan University students have won first place in Startup Thailand League 2017 for the eastern region with their smart bicycle lock design.

The students of the NU Neo Space team are from the Faculty of Electric Engineering and Computing.
They are Krissana Iangsan, Sutthinan Ruangyos and Supawat Thupwong.
They called their product Safe Lock, which is a control bar and a U-shaped lock bar. The lock plugs into the control bar and it can be unlocked with a combination of short presses and long presses of a control key.
The control bar has a Bluetooth adapter for linking to a smartphone and uses an app to control its functions and to set the password.
The control bar sets off an alarm when someones tries to break it apart or after someone has keyed in the wrong password three times.
The app can be used to make Safe Lock make a sound if it is misplaced.
Safe Lock can also be used to signal a left or right turn by someone riding a bicycle after being mounted on a bicycle’s handlebar.
Suthinan said he and his friends’ bikes are rather expensive so they decided to invent the Smart Lock to stop them from being stolen.
