Phuket planners halt beachside project

A luxury residential project on the hillsides in Rawai on the road to Ao Sen and Laem Krating at the south end of Phuket Island has been stopped after Rawai Or Bor Tor authorities stepped in to survey the location to see if it meets required height restrictions.

Zone One includes land 20 metres from the sea, which allows buildings up to six metres in height, while Zone Two is 50 metres from the sea and allows buildings up to 12 metres high.
The project’s agent has admitted that the parking area has already exceeded the area allowed for the project and officials believe that the construction is well over height limits.
The project has been told to fix the problem within 30 days or face fines and possible demolition orders.
The Bt20-million unfinished project includes four houses and is owned by an unnamed Bangkok millionaire.
