Concrete truck rolls over, killing motorcyclist
A fatal accident occurred Tuesday morning on Khao Lan Road, Baan Bang Jo, Thalang, after the driver of a ready-mix-concrete truck lost control while going downhill and trying to make a right turn, over-corrected and hit an electrical pole.
The driver then tried to recover the truck back onto the road, hit a Mitsubishi car and rolled over onto a motorcycle, killing the rider.
Chatraporn Moonyai, a 31-year-old woman from Surat Thani, died at the scene.
Her three-year-old son, Papungkorn, riding pillion, was injured.
Kusoldarm rescue workers attended the scene and the child was transferred to Vachira Hospital.
The mother and child are from the same family as a Cherngtalay police officer.
The driver of the truck, which belongs to Siam City Cement, fled the scene.
Police believe that his driving at high speed was the cause of the accident.
