Ayutthaya ritual alms offering scheduled for every Sunday

Ayutthaya ritual alms offering scheduled for every Sunday

The Ayutthaya Tourism and Sport Office and the Fine Arts Department have jointly launched a campaign to invite people to wear Thai traditional costumes to attend a morning alms offering every Sunday until September 10.

The ritual alms offering to 30 monks was held on the road near Wat Mahathat at the Ayutthaya Historical Park at 6.30am on Sunday, including 100 members of the public led by deputy provincial Rewat Prasong, all of whom wore traditional Thai clothing.
Rewat said the alms offering ceremony, which will be held from 6am to 7am on Sundays until September 10, was part of the “Wai Phra, Chom Lakhorn, Non Ayutthaya”, or the “worship Buddha images and monks, watch a staged play and stay overnight in Ayutthaya” project.
Visitors could attend while also enjoying the Krung Sri walking-street market near the old city hall that is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, he added.
