Dusit Zoo adds two rhinoceros iguanas to exhibit

Bangkok’s Dusit Zoo has unveiled two new rhinoceros iguanas ahead of National Mother’s Day on Saturday.

The two six-year-old male iguanas were bequeathed by Singapore Zoo to strengthen ties between the two zoos.
Rhinoceros iguana, or Cyclura cornuta, is a threatened species of lizard in the family Iguanidae. Females have an average body length of 62 centimetres and males 74.5cm, the skin colour is greenish gray or brown, and a full-grown adult can weigh up to nine kilograms. The animal’s maximum lifespan is more than 30 years.
The name derives from a bony pseudo-horn on the animal’s snout, which resembles a rhino horn.
