Ayutthaya triple murder: police probe possible drug connection

The police investigation into the triple murder in Ayutthaya's Maharat district is focusing on a possible drug dealing connection, although police have not ruled out another motive.

The drug-conflict motive is based on one of the victims recently being released from jail for a drug offence, said police deputy spokesman Colonel Krisana Pattanacharoen on Tuesday.
Krisana said police will also interview people who were a party with the victims on the night they went missing.
Krisana's comments followed the Monday afternoon discovery of the bodies of three local men - who had been reported as missing since the evening of August 6 - in a shallow grave off a dirt road cutting through a ricefield in tambon Ban Na.
Earlier on Monday, police recovered three burnt cellphones found in the ricefield and retrieved two motorcycles from a nearby canal, which led to a search of the area and the subsequent discovery of the bodies.
The bodies had gunshot wounds.
The victims are former drug convict Sompan Boonsanoon, 39, and his friends, Pairat Homcha-aim, 38, and Samruay Wong-aksorn, 32.
