Van driver rewarded for returning 3,300 euros to tourist

A tourist van driver at Phuket International Airport was honoured on Saturday for returning a bag containing 3,300 euros (Bt129,000) in cash to a Bangladeshi tourist.

Airport director Phet Chuncharoen held a small ceremony at the auditorium on the fifth floor of the Phuket airport office building to reward Pornpong Klaithongkham, 40.
Pornpong drives a van that takes foreign tourists from the airport to various tourist destinations in the island-province.
On August 11, he found a leather handbag with 3,300 euro banknotes. He contacted tourist police at the airport who later found the owner, Mohaiminur Reza, 32, who stayed at a Patong hotel.
The tourist was happy and offered 200 euros to Pornpong as reward.
