A 37-year-old rescuer from a religious organisation in Chon Buri province has come up with an idea to comfort and alleviate the fears of passengers in his ambulance.

He has decorated the vehicle in bright blue colours with pillows featuring the famous Japanese cartoon character Doraemon.

“This aimed at eliminating possible fears of passengers, because people always assume that rescue vehicles are for dead people and the interior is always soaked with blood from injured people. They also believe that the vehicle is haunted by ghosts,” Nirun Saengsinchai said.
Nirun, who works as a rescue worker with the Peaw Yeang Tai Sriracha group in the province, stressed that the cost of the decorations came from his own pocket.
One of the injured passengers had said the decoration was “nice” and had made him less fearful, Nirun said.
Others had taken selfies with the vehicle and posted them on social networks, he added.
