Hitachi ready to help develop Eastern Economic Corridor

Hitachi on Wednesday signed an agreement with Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor Office on applying digital technologies, including IoT (Internet of Things) technologies, and establishing an “innovative environment” to promote the region’s development.

Noting that the EEC development plan anticipates investments totalling Bt1.5 trillion from both the public and private sectors, the Japanese electronics giant said it was “striving to become an innovation partner in the IoT era” as part of its 2018 Mid-term Management Plan.
It said it was promoting growth globally through its Social Innovation Business and identified Southeast Asia and Thailand in particular as “an important market in the realisation of Hitachi’s growth strategies”.
Hitachi is eyeing Thailand as it rolls out railway, industrial products, and information and telecommunications systems businesses.
It said the EEC office and Hitachi would establish a cutting-edge IoT centre, collaborate on necessary studies, and create bases for the use of advanced digital technologies.
“Hitachi will promote the use of IoT technologies, for example by undertaking data analytics using artificial intelligence (AI) based on big data obtained from plants, office buildings and other sources.
“It will also utilise the solution core and customer cases for Lumada, Hitachi’s IoT platform, and roll out digital solutions that contribute to the resolution of various issues in Thailand and the region as a whole.”
