Betong economic zone tightens security following bomb attacks
Soldiers and police stepped up security yesterday in the economic zone of Yala’s Betong district after insurgents carried out three bomb attacks in Yaha and Kabang districts in the southern border province.
Betong police chief Pol Colonel Suchart Sa-id said he had instructed police officers from his station to coordinate with district officials to step up patrols in business areas in the district.
Officers were told to especially watch over shops where foreign tourists shop, he added.
He said more road checkpoints had also been set up to screen vehicles.
