Thai Red Cross Society on Sunday held an event marking World Stem Cell Donor Day to thank stem-cell donors and promote further donations, which can help to treat diseases including leukaemia, aplastic anaemia and thalassaemia.

World Stem Cell Donor Day was initiated by the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) to encourage stem-cell donations and thank more than 30 million people who have selflessly donated to stem-cell therapies around the world.
Thailand, which is a member of the WMDA, also has the Thai National Stem Cell Donor Registry as a centre compiling a database of all registered 209,983 stem-cell donors nationwide.
