Yom River steadily engulfing Phichit village
Swollen with rain and runoff from the North, the Yom River was still rising on Wednesday, threatening to reach the second storeys of already flooded homes in one Phichit village.
Pheun Nuchmaew, a resident of Ban Koh Sarika (Moo 4) in Tambon Rang Nok, Sam Ngam district, said the floodwater was only a metre from her home’s second floor.
Twenty homes along the river in the village have been inundated for some time and conditions are worsening. The low-laying terrain brings flooding every year.
