Yellow flowers bloom in honour of King Rama IX

Chiang Mai’s Royal Park Rajapruek has displayed a field of more than 300,000 yellow flowers to pay tribute to HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej ahead of his Royal Cremation ceremonies.

Among these flowers grown there by officials and volunteers since August for this great display of loyalty were 102,000 French marigold plants in two types – Bonanza Yellow and Durango Yellow – and 3,000 yellow daffodils which were reportedly the late King’s favourite.
Yellow also represents the late King’s birthday colour, as he was born on a Monday.
Royal Cremation ceremonies and related rituals for the late monarch, who reigned in Thailand for seven decades, are set to take place in late October and run for five days.
