Medical student surrenders, ‘denies poisoning dog’

Medical student surrenders, ‘denies poisoning dog’

A medical student suspected of poisoning a dog to claim compensation from a transport service provider turned himself in to Bangkok police on Friday to fight the allegations, a source revealed.

The source said the student had told police he had only injected his dog with Vitamin C, not anything harmful.
Pol Colonel Termpao Siriphuban, superintendent at the Suttisarn Police Station, said the student has only been charged with attempted fraud because there was no clear-cut evidence against him of engaging in animal torture.
“He denied trying to defraud the transport service provider,” Termpao said, “He also exercised his right to speak only in court.”
Termpao said his station was about to seek an arrest warrant for the medical student when he surrendered.
“As he voluntarily turned himself in, we have decided not to detain him during the investigation,” he said.
The medical student has been diagnosed with mental health problems, according to his medical school.
