Mountain runoff hits Lampang, affecting 400 houses

Mountain runoff and flash floods hit three tambon in Lampang’s Thoen district on Saturday morning following overnight rains.

Officials said the floods affected some 400 houses in tambon Mae Pa, Mae Wa, and Lom Raed.
Officials said Tambon Mae Pa in Ban Mae Padoi was the hardest hit after runoff from mountains in Wieng Kosai National Park ran down Mae Pa Creek to inundate over 60 houses.
Water rose to over one-metre high and leaving many elderly people e stranded in their homes.
Troops and disaster officials rushed to help villagers in the three tambon in the morning by distributing food and drinking water.
A part of the Lampang-Tak road was also inundated, prompting troops and officials to direct local traffic.
