The first rehearsal to raise the top of the grand nine-tiered umbrella funeral pyre of the Royal Crematorium for HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej ran smoothly, Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapakorn said at Sanam Luang.

“It took about three minutes to raise the grand nine-tiered umbrella funeral pyre – which has a weight of about 80 kilograms and is 5.10 metres high – to the 50.5-meter crematorium,” he said.
He hoped the second rehearsal on October 17 would be perfect.
“The construction of the Royal Crematorium, its compound pavilions and landscapes are almost finished in time before HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn presides over the ceremony to raise the top of the pyre on October 18, marking the official completion of the construction,” he said.
“The landscape decorated with the marigolds, the King’s flower, will be in full bloom during the royal ceremonies held from October 25 to 29 and also last for a month when the government opens the royal crematorium to the public to visit the grand architecture and related exhibitions in November,” he said.
