King will continue father’s work

MARKING the first anniversary of the passing of the beloved monarch, Privy Councillor Dr Kasem Wattanachai said that His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn graciously gave nine royal guidelines for the government and people to follow on August 7.
Guideline number nine says that King Rama IX had done enormous good for the country and the government and everyone should help disseminate understanding and continue to spread the works and abide by them. 

As well, think of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit by driving Their Majesties’ initiatives forward and he will always support the government in everything it does for the people. 
“This shows what is inside His Majesty the King’ s heart and he wishes to be behind the scenes and supportive. He wants to continue the royal wishes of his father,” Kasem said in the talk on education at Siriraj Hospital.
Speaking of education, he said that modern education in Thailand began during the reign of King Rama V. The late King, however, had a clear vision of lifelong learning. 

“The royal guidance, declared 55 years ago in July 5, 1962, stated that education is inclusive for everyone no matter how old. His Majesty’s address always emphasised the moral values of learners, the achievements and the academic, practical and moral aspects,” he says. 
Dr Sumet Tantivejkul, the Secretary General of the Chaipattana Foundation, shared 35 years of experiences working for the Late King. He summed it up in three sentences. “First ‘Look what I do’, meaning to examine not just see. Then ask oneself for the reasons so as to achieve the wisdom.
“Second, ‘Take note of everything I say’ so as to memorise just like when His Majesty is taking pictures. He wanted to take memories. And, third, ‘Summarise my thoughts’, that is to revise the past, to practice the present and to progress the future. 
“His Majesty’s hard work must carry on. When I turned 60 years old and requested the royal blessing, at that time the late King was 72 year-old. He said ‘... don’t retire...’. 

“And when I turned 72 years old, six years ago, His Majesty was not in good health. He said to me, which I did not think would be the last words, ‘... the works are not finished ...’ Hence, I would like to request that everyone does their duties as best they can because that is His Majesty’s royal wishes. Now our father has passed, we should continue his royal wishes to give abundance to our next generation.”
