MEMBERS of the public are being invited to place sandalwood flowers as their final tributes to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, at the royal crematorium replicas and floral niches set up around the country on Royal Cremation Day, October 26, which is a public holiday.

So far, 56 provinces have completed their construction of royal crematorium replicas, while the other 20 have progressed beyond 90 per cent and will by ready by , according to Interior Ministry deputy permanent secretary Nisit Chansomwong. 
The royal crematorium replicas – one built in the Muang district of each of the 76 provinces and another nine in and around Bangkok – are for people to place sandalwood flowers for the late monarch’s funeral until 10pm on October 26.

Although it is vast, the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang in Bangkok won’t be able to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend the ceremonies. 
On Royal Cremation Day, when the symbolic royal cremation will take place at 5.30pm and the actual cremation at 10pm, people are allowed to offer sandalwood flowers at various designated sites for two periods: from 9am to 4.30pm and from 6.30pm-10pm.

There will be 802 floral niches nationwide (649 medium-size and 153 smaller-size), mostly located in temples and 200 other designated locations. 
A total of 61 million funeral flowers have been prepared for distribution for people to place as last tributes, Nisit said. 
The 878 specially-built pyres for burning funeral flowers will be near the replicas and at other designated sites, which will all be completed by October 20.

Bangkok and its adjacent provinces's replicas are located at the Royal Plaza, the City Hall’s Lan Khon Mueang, the Government Lottery Office’s former headquarters, Nagaraphirom Park, the King Rama I Monument area, the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec) in Bang Na, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Lad Krabang, Nakhon Pathom’s Buddhamonthon Park and Pathum Thani’s Thupatemi Royal Thai Air Force Sports Stadium. Bangkok City has also arranged 16 large-size floral niches, 26 medium-size floral niches as well as those in 62 temples.

Large LED screens will be installed at designated sites, enabling people to view the live broadcast of the ceremony in Sanam Luang.
The Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates and Thai temples overseas will also arrange designated sites for people to place sandalwood flowers.
