Seven arrested, assets seized in fraud probe
A criminal court has issued arrest warrants for seven people, including three Malaysians and four Thais, in an alleged gold pyramid scheme involving Bt750 million, Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Pol Colonel Paisit Wongmuang said on Tuesday.
DSI investigators had already seized assets worth Bt60 million from 16 people for these and related offences, he said, adding that all the suspects and the case report would be forwarded to the public prosecutors' consideration for indictment early next month.
The case stemmed from an alleged China-based pyramid scheme that promised high returns of 10 per cent per month to Thai investors.
