A motorist was killed in a fire and his passenger was injured when their car crashed into a lorry that was making a u-turn in Roi Et's Mueang district early on Friday.

The first accident prompted another lorry to slow down, and a pickup crashed into its rear.
Police said the accident happened at 2.45am on a road in the Mueang district.
The charred body of the car driver, Singchai (whose surname has not been released), was removed from behind the wheel. His friend, Anupong Chanapahm 21, who suffered a broken left arm, managed to climb out of a window before the car caught fire.
Anupong told police he and Singchai were returning home from a pub.

The lorry driver, Sawien Boonthee, 33, initially fled the scene but later returned to meet police.
He said he was not familiar with the area so he drove past his destination and was trying to make a u-turn when the crash occurred.
In the second accident not far from the first spot, Kwan Khamyen, 40, was severely injured when his pickup truck hit a lorry in front of him.
The second lorry truck driver, Rachan Akkharit, 34, told police that he had slowed down after spotting the accident ahead and the pickup then ran into him.
