Lay prostrate as processions pass, mourners advised

Thai mourners have been advised to lay prostrate when the royal processions in honour of HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej move past them during the Royal Cremation ceremonies.

No umbrella should be up in the air at this time, according to PM’s Office Minister Omsin Chiwaphruek.
“The royal processions and people along the way will be recorded and televised worldwide. Let’s act properly for the good image of the Royal Thai Kingdom,” he said on Tuesday.
The ceremonies will run from Wednesday until Sunday, with the actual cremation to take place on Thursday.

Starting on Thursday morning, three solemn and grand royal processions will take place. Several members of the Royal Family will join the processions.
The areas along the procession routes will be crowded with mourners, and many Thais have already been camped out in front of the entrances for several days.
The entrances will open to members of the public at 5am on Wednesday.
