Hammer work proves fatal for Chaiyaphum man

Hammer work proves fatal for Chaiyaphum man

A 41-year-old man in Chaiyaphum province was fatally electrocuted when, it is suspected, the hammer he was using to pull out a nail accidentally hit an exposed electrical wire on Friday morning, police said.

Pol Captain Opas Bumrungthin of Lat Yao Police Station went to inspect the scene, a house in Ban Kud Tom (Moo 13) in the Muang district, along with rescue workers.
They found the body of Yodrak Asayuth, 41, lying near the bedroom door. Preliminary examination showed he might have been electrocuted.
His mother Lom Asayuth, 78, told police that she had returned in the morning from a rice field to find her son’s dead body. Police found a partly melted hammer entangled in electrical wires and surmised that the man might have been using the hammer to pull out a nail but had accidentally hit an exposed power wire resulting in the fatal electrocution. The man’s family had no suspicions about the cause of the death and collected the body for religious rites later.
