Fare collector, 23, falls off boat and drowns

A fare collector fell off his boat into the Saen Saeb Canal and drowned in Bangkok’s Wang Thong Lang district on Tuesday night.

The Hua Mark Police Station was alerted at 9pm that a man had drowned in the Saen Saeb Canal next to Ramkhamhaeng Soi 39 behind the Sapsin Kao Community.
Police and rescuers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation rushed to the scene. The rescuers combed the bed of the canal for over two hours and found the body of Marosi Tuyong, 23, a fare collector, from Pattani.
A witness told police that she saw a man struggling in the canal so she shouted to others to help him but no one heard her.
After receiving the phone call, police were later alerted by a fare collector Suriyanee Nilkalaphan, 24, that she noticed Marosi’s disappearance from the boat when it arrived at the Wat Si Boonruang pier and she believed the man had fallen off the boat.
