Crackdown ordered on Bangkok bag-snatchers
With incidents of bag-snatching on the rise in Bangkok, acting Metropolitan Police Chief Pol Lt Gen Charnthep Sesawej on Wednesday ordered a crackdown in all nine divisions.
Charnthep told division commanders in a meeting that thieves were grabbing handbags more frequently lately and residents were demanding action.
He noted that quick arrests are rendered difficult because police stations do not effectively share information about bag-snatching suspects.
That has to improve, he said.
