Two students killed, two injured in Roi Et crash

An 18-wheel trailer crashed into the rear of a pickup truck in Roi Et on Monday evening, killing two students, and injuring two other students and the two drivers.

Police said the accident happened at 5.30pm on the Roi Et-Phone Thong road in Ban Yangku village in Tambon Ma-uh in Tha Watchaburi district.
The pickup was being driven by Thanongsak Wiensima, 39, who is the janitor of Ban Yangku School. Four students were travelling with him.
Panthamit Noibat, 13, and Apatchaya Sithongdaen, 13, died at the scene. Two other students, Patipol Auayporn, 12, and Jarinporn Booppha, 14, were injured and rushed to the Roi Et hospital. The four students were travelling on the back of the pickup to return home after school.
Panyawat Bamphenpien, 23, the lorry truck driver, was slightly injured. Panyawat claimed his truck had a malfunction and suddenly accelerated to hit the pickup.
