Three Cambodians, Thai taxi driver killed in Chanthaburi crash

Three Cambodian migrants died and another one was injured when their taxi crashed into a tree in Chanthaburi in an accident that also killed the Thai driver, police said.

The accident happened at 4.50am on Saturday on the Na Yai Arm-Ban Khao Wongkot road in Kaeng Hang Maew district.
Pol Captain Suwej Woharn, deputy inspector of Kaeng Hang Maew police station, said Lamphun Kaewyai, 43, the taxi driver, was killed and trapped in his seat.
Suwej said one Cambodian man and two women were hurled through the taxi’s windshield and die on the roadside. They could not immediately be identified as they did not have ID cards with them.
Another Cambodian man was trapped in the back seat behind the driver. He was seriously injured and rushed to the Na Yai Arm hospital. He could not be identified either.
A witness, Methanee Sriwiset, 32, said she was riding her motorcycle to a factory to visit her sister not far from the crash site. She saw a taxi speeding before she heard a loud crash.
She found that the taxi had hit a tree, so she called police.
