The 72-hour competition challenged students with interdisciplinary skill sets to prototype an IoT solution for the healthcare industry. This competition was opened to high school and undergraduates with expertise in design, creative and development.

The Cisco – RSU Hackathon 2017, in the theme of "IoT in Healthcare", drew eight teams to work around the clock at Rangsit University. During the competition, Rangsit University provided facilities and mentors for participants while Cisco supported network infrastructure including four IoT courses from Cisco Networking Academy Program: Introduction to IoT, IoT Connecting Things, Big Data and Analytics and Hackathon Playbook.

The Cisco Network Academy provided students overview of the concepts and challenges of the transformational IoT economy prior to competition.
