Cisco and Rangsit University Host 'Cisco – RSU Hackathon 2017'

Cisco and Rangsit University recently hosted "Cisco – RSU Hackathon 2017" in the theme of IoT in Healthcare, the country's first IoT Hackathon gathering NetAcademy students in Thailand to explore the potential of IoT (Internet of Things) to drive new social innovation for the future of healthcare.

The 72-hour competition challenged students with interdisciplinary skill sets to prototype an IoT solution for the healthcare industry. This competition was opened to high school and undergraduates with expertise in design, creative and development.
The Cisco – RSU Hackathon 2017, in the theme of "IoT in Healthcare", drew eight teams to work around the clock at Rangsit University. During the competition, Rangsit University provided facilities and mentors for participants while Cisco supported network infrastructure including four IoT courses from Cisco Networking Academy Program: Introduction to IoT, IoT Connecting Things, Big Data and Analytics and Hackathon Playbook.
The Cisco Network Academy provided students overview of the concepts and challenges of the transformational IoT economy prior to competition.
The students who won the first were Chindanai Mala-eiam from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and Titichaya Ratmangkornsakul from Bangkok University (BU) with the project "CareKhun Eldercare Solution: Management Elderly Health Care with Monitoring and Notification System on Mobile Pocket Solution".
The solution is designed to monitor elderly people's daily health in real-time and dispatch alerts to hospital emergency rooms when it detects irregularities such as irregular heart rhythms, higher body temperatures, higher blood pressure, etc.
Cisco Networking Academy is an IT skills and career building programme for learning institutions and individuals worldwide. More than 6 million people have joined the Networking Academy since 1997.
