His Majesty grants Bt10.3 million for flood-hit Northeast schools and scholarships

His Majesty the King on Thursday granted Bt10.318 million to the government to provide help to flood-hit schools and provide scholarships in the northeastern provinces.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun granted an audience to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha to hand over the funds.
The money will buy desks and chairs and other school supplies for 52 schools in northeastern provinces that were hit by floods from May 16 to September 18.
The remainder of the money will be used to provide scholarship to 11 students who lost their parents in the floods, enabling them to complete their Bachelor’s degrees.
On April 10, His Majesty granted Bt40 million to help families of flood victims and schools in 12 southern provinces hit by floods from December 1, 2016 to February 9, 2017.
A total of 99 people died in southern floods during the period, and the King granted scholarships to 27 students left without parents. The rest of the money was used to buy school equipment for 267 schools damaged by floods.
During both flooding events, His Majesty has also sent privy councillors to visit flood victims and provide emergency assistance.
